Now how this book came to be published is a very interesting story. When Mrs. Kopplin became seriously ill, she was told by her doctors that she would die in a year. Since she could not live to bring up her children personally, she decided to write a collection of poems and other educational items which would take her place, after her death, as instructor, guide and mother to her children. Keeping busy made her forget her sickness and she soon recovered completely, much to her doctors surprise. Her friends urged her to get her collection printed in book-form for the benefit of other children.
That is an example of a person who used her limited time to her best advantage. How few of us know to do that. Still fewer of us know how to use our money. We all strive for wealth. We spend labor and time learning how to earn more money; but do any of us try to learn how to spend that money?
If some people were to spend one-half of their fortune in learning how to spend the other half, it would be a very good investment.
