Calling all you BPO guys and gals

Hi Guys,

Would like all you guys working in the BPO/Call centers to share 'Life in a call center'
if we could get on line to just share our commonalities would be great.

2nd Jun 2013
I have noticed a significant increase in the # of visitors to this page since I had posted it.
I do understand that all of us have 'professional restrictions' updated from time to time by our respective employers, but this should not be a constraint in our efforts towards sharing better practices. In fact a lot of the BPO's/KPO's that I know encourage employees to share their experiences in and thru' these activities. It also helps you destress by sharing a seemingly difficult problem, that cannot otherwise be shared.
Many of the industries are facing low employee morale, lower shareholders confidence and I am sure that each of us can contribute our mite towards regaining that confidence and join hands to build a better work environment.
You need not identify yourself if you dont want to, its entirely voluntary and solely each ones decision.
Let me share a small incident:
Parameters, I noticed, are usually looked upon with a lot of skepticism, most try not to talk about or pass it peripherally, keeping only to the qualifiers. There was this person who thought s/he would never be able to make it to the qualifiers because every day s/he was'nt able to meet the qualifier on this one parameter. I noticed that the person usually came in thinking of her 'numbers yesterday' and went back with the same results again 'today'.
This is the remedy suggested to this person:
Learn to enjoy the work you do. No matter what the external influences it should be that I want to go and I want to do and not I must go or must do..thats the first step to 'success' I've learnt.
Parameters are building and not stumbling blocks, while there is no compromise, they must be kept at the back of the mind as the 'foundation' 'base' or 'platform' to build on and not to hide behind. (By keeping the qualifying percentile instead of giving your 'all') If parameters are the focus you will not be able to give your 100% to the work on hand.
Avoid living yesterdays mistakes today, while it is good to keep in mind and avoid the slip-of-the-tongue mistakes and pitfalls, one should also make a concious decision to leave the 'past' behind and put your best 'words' forward.
While keeping parameters in mind, always do 'your' best on each and every task, treat it as your first, last and the only task you will have 'today'.
Try not to look at the results, but focus totally on the work-at-hand.
Develop an eye for detail, self assessment. Learn to criticize and not condemn yourself. A healthy criticism of oneself is a humbling experience.
Create an individual identity, leave your 'signature' on each 'job' you are entrusted.
It is very important to know the difference between compete and complete. Always remember there is only one place at the top, but the ones below 'hold-up' the one at the top where there is room for only one. (and believe you me it is lonely up there)
There are other tips and ideas which are unique to each person to overcome our fears,
I've just given you off-hand all that comes to mind to encourage each of you to assisst in building a useful forum where each one teaches one and we all learn from each others experiences.   Happy sharing will be back soon.
